Las Vegas welcomes Jeff Wirth and Joanna Harmon fresh off of The Interactive Deep Dive, the nationally-praised 9-month research intensive focused on interactive story. Together, they lead a series of workshops on Interactive Performance techniques for creatives on the newest frontier of live entertainment. This workshop series is by Live Action Set in partnership with Majestic Repertory Theatre.

Are you ready to expand your improvisational and acting limits? This workshop-intensive series focuses on the emerging form of interactive performance, a style in which performers facilitate audience members’ engagement as they become co-creators of improvised, dramatic stories. This powerful form of free play builds “quadruple threat” performers by melding the skills of acting, dramatic improvisation, story structure, and social psychology to create narratives fueled by meaningful interactions between performers and audience participants.

Note: Sessions A and B focus on the same material. Limit 12 participants per session.

ABOUT JEFF WIRTH:

Jeff Wirth is the Director of Interactive PlayLab in New York City, where he conducts training, playtests, and prototypes for interactive performance projects. Most recently, he served as director of The Interactive Deep Dive, a 9-month think-tank in Austin, TX focused on developing the field of interactive story with 9 other individuals from around the country. Jeff has consulted for such top-tier clients as Cirque du Soleil, Blue Man Group, and Disney Imagineering. He authored the book Interactive Acting and has written and directed over 100 interactive shows. Jeff served on the faculty at the University of Central Florida, and he has led master classes at universities and festivals across the United States. ABOUT JOANNA HARMON:

Joanna is a producer, director, and performer whose aesthetic blends theater and dance. Her work strives to answer the question, "What can theater do that no other medium can?" She has led the creation of over a dozen full-scale performances ranging in styles such as dance-theater, clown, and large-scale immersive and interactive productions. Across these styles, she explores the relationship between performer and audience member, which has led her to develop interactive story techniques that allow participants to become co-creators of their own experiences. Residencies

The tools for creation are invaluable and Live Action Set is available to share our knowledge with students and performing artists of all levels to help create performances through residencies that take a practical approach to collaboration. We draw upon our diverse backgrounds to offer workshops in ensemble play creation, contact improvisation, clown, treteaux and physical characterization.

Communication is essential to collaboration. Participants learn to build teams and work together as an ensemble as well as learn useful tools for creating performance material while engaging and challenging their skills as artists. We actively research and implement methods of collaboration in our own work because we believe that together we are able to make work we couldn't make alone.
